Molly Hicken, County Attorney, Cook County, MN
Molly Hicken serves as the elected county attorney for Cook County, Minnesota, a remote county of 5,300 that lies on the north shore of Lake Superior. The international boundary with Canada runs along the northern edge of the county and the Grand Portage reservation lies within its boundaries. Hicken has prosecuted crime for Cook County since 2007 and has served as the jurisdiction’s chief prosecutor and legal advisor since 2014. She is active on the Minnesota County Attorney’s Association as a member of the Board of Directors and serves as the Governor’s appointed representative on the Community Competency Restoration Taskforce. Hicken is particularly interested in restorative justice practices, problem-solving Courts, and equal justice for rural and Indigenous populations.
